Dr Johanna Fawkes is now Senior Lecturer in Public Relations at Charles Sturt University, Bathurst, NSW, Australia. She is currently working on three academic papers, two book chapters and preparing a book for Routledge’s New Directions in Public Relations and Communications Research (ed. Kevin Moloney),l a re-working of her PhD thesis on Jung, ethics and PR. From February she will be teaching and superivising across a range of under and post-graduate subjects, including Doctor of Communications and PhD students.

For most of the last ten years, Jo has been an academic researcher, communications  and training consultant, offering services in research, editing and writing,  based in Leeds, UK, with a range of clients including the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, Carnegie Weight Management and Wakefield and District Housing.

She worked in public sector public relations until 1990, when she left the TUC to teach at the London College of Printing.  Dr Fawkes then taught at the University of Central Lancashire and Leeds Metropolitan University, where she led the BA (Hons) in PR until leaving in 2004 to become an independent researcher. She was CIPR Chief Examiner for the Diploma from 2005-7.

Jo has written papers for a variety of international journals and conferences (including two pirize winners), and contributed several chapters to leading PR text books, Exploring PR, (2006, 2008) edited by Tench and Yeomans, Pearson and The Handbook of Public Relations (2001, 2004, 2008, 2012), edited by Alison Theaker (Routledge). Johanna is a member of the Institute of Communication Ethics (ICE) Advisory Boar, the editorial board for the Public Relations Journal of Inquiry and was book reviews editor for the Journal of Communication Management 2007-10.
